Fort Jadhavgadh

Our first ever weekend trip by car.

Even though we had a minor setback in the form of puncture, we got it resolved quick and were on our way! The Mumbai Pune Expressway is so pretty with the dark tunnels and cute yellow lights overhead.

Inside the tunnel (pardon the bad shot)

And we reached the hotel

The grand entrance

The hotel  also houses a museum with artifacts from Maratha time. No photos were allowed inside the museum, but I did take this one outside.

Love the words

The lawns were serene, the air quite fresh and all we could hear was birds chirping nearby.

The hotel is picturesque and very luxurious. It had a very pretty swimming pool. We did not dare take a dip, since it had just rained and the temp had gone down. But it looked very inviting.

We had a refreshing and peaceful weekend. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a break from the city.

Due to some changes at work (which I am very happy about ), I don’t get time to update the blog during the week. Will try to cover up for it over the weekends.

Knock Knock :D

You can run, you can hide, but you can’t escape my the love.. are the lines playing in my mind as I read all you guys’ FB wall posts and emails urging me to come back. It feels good to be missed. But I guess I owe all of you an apology too, for running away from the blog without so much as a brb post. So here it is. I am sorry. And I am back :D. I can’t promise to write as frequently as I used to, but I’ll try to post whenever I can get my lazy brain to string together a few coherent words.

On a personal front, I just came back from a family get-together (well, who am I kidding, more of babysitting my cousins weekend). And it was super awesome. We played hours and hours of Uno, took lots of candid shots of the little (most of my cousins are still in school, so I can rightly call them lil :D) kiddos and ate yummy home-made chocolate, mangoes and truckloads of fun. All the grown-ups were away at a wedding with (mostly) me and P in-charge. He had fun, grouping up the kids and pitching them up against me 😛 😛

The kids did not know how to address P..Jijaji (bro-in-law) is too formal so he became P dada (brother) and I am anyway *insert my real name* tai (sis) :|.  The weekend so reminded me of the summer vacations I used to have with the elder set of these cousins during school times. *Sigh*. I so want a vacation now :(.
Monday’s are bad every week. But I had to literally drag myself to office today :(. But logging into FB (the first thing anyone does after reaching office :P), I saw these wall posts, and I had to write this :D. Thank you guys for making my Monday so much better already!

How was your weekend folks?

The Happiness Diaries

So many chotti-chotti khushiyan to share with you guys!

1. Having a dear friend raving about the pics you took on her wedding day. Her exact words were-

arre pata hai ppl cant stop talking abt ur pics.. u made us look really really good!!!
and..
bahut hi awesome the re.. u shud consider it as ur alternate profession

You can reach me on cloud number 9. I’ll be there for a while 😛

P.S.: Since we are praising ourselves, why not add that this is the second time I am getting the alternate profession compliment! Yay!!!

2. P’s parents are a very integral part of this Ganesh Utsav Mandal. If you are from Mumbai/ Maharashtra, you’ll know about these Mandal, that put up huge Ganesh idols in pandals. The festivity continues for 10 days. So P’s mom requested me to click some photos of the idol, and I obliged her. Guess what, she loved the pics so much, that she asked me to make 60 copies of it!! Everyone at their mandal wanted one!!!!!!

3. Being a part of the evening aarti at the pandal and realising how much I enjoy singing – “Sukh karta dukh harta” , “Yeo Vitthale majhe mauli ye” and so many aartis. We did this every year at my parents place, I never know how much I’d missed this stuff then.

4. Watching my fraud, lazy ass, free-riding coworker being finally being questioned about a task he had been assigned. I cannot write more about it but I have to say, it makes me happy, really really happy.

5. Opening of a brand new chaat counter in the office cafeteria. I know most of you’ll say/think it can never have the taste of road-side stuff, but I can only say one thing to them naa naa nana naaa 😛

6. The rains are finally showing some signs of leaving. Bike baby, here I come 😀

My blog baby has grown a lot since Feb’10 when I started it. I got my Indiblogger rank 69 (yay!), long back and meant to do a post on it sooner, but somehow missed. So here is celebrating the almost 6 month anniversary of dear bloggie and my indirank.. Cheers :D.

Also, more importantly, I’d like to thank the five girls- Pinoo, Tamanna, Preeti, DI, Nuttie. The first five to comment on this blog. You guys are the reason this blog has survived these many months. Thank you so much girls! If it were not for the encouragement I got from your comments, I’d have shut this down long back. I am so glad to have you here *flying kisses* 😀 :D. Love ya all!

69/100

Moving on to random stuff, it has been raining like crazy in Mumbai for the past 3-4 days. First the rains ruined the weekend plans, and now every morning I look out of the window on waking up, and I really really wish I did not have to go to office. All I want to do is laze  at home in a cozy blanket, eating hot maggi and watch/read chick-lit. And then I come back to reality :(, search for my 3/4 ths and get ready for another walk to the station. Since no auto, wants to come to the station (which I cannot understand why!) we have to walk down the main road which is full of potholes, which leads to a lot of splattering of dirty puddle water from the roads by all sorts of vehicles. I so need the shower in office 😦

Btw, Speaking of chick-lit I have been reading Meg Cabot for the last few weeks and its fun! The best part of course is being able to read it on the laptop 😉 :P. I especially liked her Boy Series where the entire book is in the form of email communication exchanged between the characters. Very different and quite entertaining too. The other series’ are good.. not great, but timepass enough. I’d only recommend these to chick-lit fans. People who read heavier stuff might not like it a lot.

What else can I talk about? Nope nothing, and it looks like I should get to work now. So cya folks!

Blog ’bout it 😉

Which is exactly what I’m doing. The good news that I’d like to share with you people is.. *drumroll* .. But wait, well, let’s have a little suspense before we spill out the beans.

Kind of like what my Manager did. So what happened the other day is, we got an email from the Big Boss, saying that the appraisal investigation is done, and the HR will be mailing out the appraisal data to respective managers, by the end of the day, so that they can start communicating this to the employees. So we all wait in anticipation. We do not have a lot of hope, that he’ll be sending out the emails on that day itself.

The next day – People are stealing glances towards the seat where he sits, in the hope that he might be typing out the email. Every-time he moves away from the laptop to go in a meeting.. the frustration is evident.. One of my colleagues even goes up to him and cracks a pathetic joke in an attempt to get him to send the mail and pleads ..our F5 keys are almost broken 😉 please hurry before they are completely gone!. But it is to no avail, no emails in our inbox 😦

The day after that – We wait for him to come to office.. We wait.. and we wait.. and we wait… He doesn’t come. Finally at 4:22 p.m. he emails us saying, he will be sending out those emails tomorrow.

The day after – We have lost all hope that the mail is actually going to come today. Still, my hopes rise, when he is at his desk for a long time. But unfortunately no mail. People give up, and when there is no mail till 7 p.m. I too leave dejectedly. I run home and check my laptop as soon as I reach. And.. there is a mail. Unfortunately, it says “It looks like I’ll only be able to send the appraisal emails later at night today. “. So I wait.. pressing my overworked F5 button, each time MasterChef breaks for an advertisement. Finally giving up, I decide that can take it no more, and I go to sleep at around 11:30. Just to be sure I don’t miss it, I ask P to keep pressing F5, as long as he is awake, and wake me up as soon as there is any news.

Finally at exactly 2 minutes to 12 his email arrives in the inbox.. So what exactly was in the e-mail.. Would you like to know?

But before we get to that, don’t you guys think that if my Manager participated in “Raaz pichle janame ke” he would most definitely be an anchor for some kind of TV dance/music/blah competition.. I mean the way they delay announcing the results in those shows, this was even worse than that! What say?

Ok.. I think enough torture. And I kind of feel most of you must have skipped the blah in between reached the end to find out the contents of the email anyway.

So the email says – I’ve been promoted.. Dhinchak Dhinchak Dhinchak.. 15 months into the job, and I am now a Senior Software Developer now! Yay! If you’ve read this post ages ago, you can understand how happy I am today!
