She was late for work, but somehow she could not shake off the nagging feeling that she had forgotten something. “Oh shit! I forgot to wish him happy birthday!! I hope I can get through that secretary of his”. The years of being together had led to complacency, plus the fact that it was a long distance relationship, kinda made her forget she was in one. She hurriedly called him to wish, but his secretary picked up and told her he was busy in an important meeting. “I’ll call him in the evening” she promised herself. She was glad that he was not insecure by her success, and that their relationship did not feel claustrophobic, they lead their independent lives, and yet shared something special.
“Who was it?” -him
“Oh nobody, some call-center guy selling a credit card, told him you were busy, dear!”. “I wish she just disappeared from his life”, she thought.
“Did she call?”, “No, I think she must have forgotten as usual, why don’t you break up with her? Life would be simpler you know”
“I know, but its complicated, you wouldn’t understand. I’ll talk to her, soon, I promise. You know that I am in love with you not her, lets not talk about this its my birthday you know!”.
And the lies continued.
Piyu!!!
Sad! But realllllyyyy well written!

Thank you Niveditha, you made my day 😀

Oh shit.. a very bad read for people who reside in two different ciities… [me here and Y there :(] .. but otherwise an awesome read 😦 … I need to msg Y!! 😀

I know, if it were in my hands, I would drag the guy down and make him grovel at her feet!
Sadly it isn’t upto me. Its their life, they make the decisions, good or bad 😛

Nice! 🙂
Happy ending hota toh Bollywoodish lagta! 😛
Thanks Preeti!
That’s true :), but even when I read a story, I so much prefer a happy ending, we are such suckers for the good things happen to good people na 🙂
My God! scheming women … Pinnnooooo glares at secretary!! Glares at Husband, hmmm at him too!! And poor Wifey.. 😦

This morning before clicking on the Publish button, I was in a huge dilemma, and not sure how well this would go down. You have no idea how good you guys comments are making me feel right now!
Actually yeh bhi hai. Happy ending thoda obvious ho jata. Theek hai Piyu, you get to make it sad!
Pinoo, wife nahi hai shayad, girlfriend hai, I think. Piyu please confirm. Not that it justifies anything, but still!
Oh, and I am back in the game! Tum log sab match fixing type me ho, I will not go to sleep only, forget waking up at 4! Hmph.
Haan, sorry Pinoo, its not the wife, just the girlfriend, not that it makes things easier for her :(.
DI, I am with you, Go girl! I hope that the next time we meet on a comment space, you’ll be the first 🙂
Nah that’s my soul piyu.. be dramatic.. don’t spoil it ;P
Not wifey!! thank god (meaning, she would have been shattered na more, when the divorce papers arrive :P), Poor gf !!!… 😦
On a serious note, ppl take so much advantage hai na, to twist ur brains against somebody else and the gullible trusting you falls flat for the lies… !!
moral of the story: never depend on somebody fully, u have a brain too, use it sometimes… 😛 😛 😛
pity re, pity if it happens to anybody at all !!
Yes, wifey would have been a lot more sad, and I kind of have a lot of respect for the institution of marriage, so kept it at the gf level…
Hehe, good moral, ya, it wud be devastating in real life 😦
Trust is a very tricky thing, very very.
I will post continously from midnight till 4.. so that u guys fight at my blog and I conquer else where ;p …. plz piyu confirm ki wife hai gf nahin hai .. plz *lips quivering* – Y is *busy* all day in *meeting* today n then this post …. *faints*
*faints* with phone in her hand after reading those words!!!
Yeah, yeah, and yet regains consciousness enough to comment 😛 😛
Thank God its not Y’s birthday then!
That should settle it, right 😛
But it’s mine shortly and all my BF’s have forgotten 😦 … but yea that’s a good point 😀 *phew! regains conciouness*
Ooh, do you have a secretary 😛
DI really 😛
Let’s race :):)
Sags u ready, or ur off to beautiful swizy lands already 😛
Nice 🙂 Happy ending would have been predictable and bland. I like realism.
Thank you ajay 😀
Very nice read..and kind of unexpected.. I was expecting the secretary to be J and in love with him.. not him as well..
Yes, that would mean happily ever after for the gf, and we would be judging the secretary for going after a committed man filmy style 🙂 ..
You know I just opened my notepad and typed it out, hadn’t thought about what I wanted to write, or how it would turn out, the end just happened 😀
