Spotted in local trains all the time are these posters of various Babas. They guarantee 100% success for any case – such as “Prem Vivah” (Love marriage), Job, Money, ” Karj Mukti” – repaying loans, “Pyar mein dhoka” -cheating, divorce and various other problems..
The inside of every local train I travel through is plastered with posters of such various Babas. Here are a couple of pictures for those who haven’t had the pleasure (:P) of traveling though Mumbai’s local train.
Is life so difficult and depressing for people to actually believe in this crap! How can anyone even think that such a person would actually make their problems disappear. I know it is extremely tempting to run away from a problem, or hope that it will magically go away, but this is real life. No magic wands or baba chanting random voodoo stuff can vaporize your problems. You’ve got to fight them on your own.
If you have a problem in your marriage talk to your spouse, or get some counseling. You need a job, get some skills, search the newspaper for ads, send out your resume. Cheating – well, as much as you want the other person to be faithful, you cannot control how they feel, and really do you want to be with someone who doesn’t want you? Each of these problems need introspection, hard work and courage. How can you expect a baba to do all your work for you?

1st !
oh yes me too have spotted these
and I always used to wonder if these babas exist at every nook and corner then no one’s suppose to be unhappy at all !
Hhuh !!
First again!
You should really give others a chance
I know, If these babas are so good at these “miracles” why don’t they work it out for themselves and live comfortably, instead of needing to put up so many posters to attract customers !
Love you for writing this down
I wonder too
Morning Piyu
ok think about this perspective, u are low and down and somebody comes up to you and gives you a hug,
or is all ears and patiently listens to all ur rants,
or somebody just says, I’m there for you or I’ll take care ….
I think that is the philosophy all these fakooo babas and babi’s cash in on, what say…
Ppl are so busy these days, pre occupied with their own self, that they fail to see others problems but except others to see theirs, hain na!! So who comes to the rescue ?? these ads… different matter, they don’t deliver !!
Reading all of you daily I feel I have ppl who actually the way I think on a whole lot of stuff
Left so many words in between and misspelled that even I fail to understand what I have written
Haha, no worried Pinoo.. welcome to my world
.. If it were not for P’s proofreading, none of you would understand any of my posts
.
Thanks for liking my post Pinoo
.. These thug-babas just cash on the vulnerability/sadness/ depression that the people are feeling. Give them fake hopes and dupe them.
I know the babas are to blame for this, but aren’t the people who go there a tiny bit responsible for it too?
*Same pinch* and you know what, you stay in my town too
.. that makes you even more special
The people who go to these babas and depend on them for help are also responsible for this. Kind of escapism and and poor ppl and and lucky babas.. High time they shd learn to hold their lives toghther and solve their problems too…
Afterthought: many people are ignorant that they have solutions to all their problems, or may be they are not patient enought to analyse it and trusts an outsider to do so… matter of perspective…
But high time, we shut these babas shops and consulting centres:)
And living in the same city, just apart by a few kms and enjoying the same rains, makes that bond very special
Second second second
I used to wonder – everyone in the ladies compartment looks either extremely happy (all laughing and talking and all) or very, very angry. The only thing anyone needs is anger management ads in local trains
Or maybe classes for stretching exercises.. The rest is all good
)
I am a fan of the laughing, singing talking kind
. That is THE WAY to travel in a crowded train!
Stretching exercises ki to bilkul jaroorat nahi hai, you body is pushed pulled in all possible directions when you travel during peak hours
Oh yes, that was about all the exercise I used to get in Bombay
Now I don’t even get that!
I have a post in mind about Bombay locals. Will write one of these days.
Likho likho
I feel I am the only one showing my love for the locals
If you have a problem in your marriage talk to your spouse, or get some counseling. You need a job, get some skills, search the newspaper for ads, send out your resume. – U hv said it all
Y can’t ppl do their bit instead of being so dependent and believing that it works! Faith may bring about miracles, but we need to do our part!
Thanks Swaram
Exactly, no problem with having faith, but you have to work for things to change.. It is just wrong, and more correctly, stupid to assume chanting mantras or tying some threads is all that is needed to achieve your goals.
Loved the post here, on landing.
So true, that I am nodding so much to your words.
I strongly believe that life is full of ups and downs and we have to go through them all, for life to be interesting. Only when we experience the lows, will we learn to appreciate the ups…hai na ???
Yes, we can take to counselling or a believer can take to praying, but things need to be experienced…there’s nothing called escaping a problem, becos of some BABA…
How many instances have we seen so far ??? How finally all these babas end up as con men ??? Why cant ppl learn to be more believing of themselves instead on some con men ???
Thanks Uma for liking it
Haan, the crests and troughs are an inseparable part of life. I know, these con men are exposed all the time, yet somehow, people don’t stop believing in them!
What will it take for them to finally understand that taking control of your own life is what is needed to change your life, and possibly turn it around? You cannot just sit an hope for miracles.
Everyone wants magic to happen. A miraculous solution to all their problems, without putting in any sincere efforts of their own.
It’s this lazy, irresponsible attitude on the part of people that fans the con business and help them achieve miraculous success in today’s world of science and technology.
A pathetic scenario indeed
Excatly CB. You have phrased it right.
Just hoping for miracles with no effort cannot lead to anything but failure.
Totally agree to what you say. I despise these Babas who make money on the basis of others issues and problems. I understand when you say the people need to realise this and do something about it rather than resort to these measures, but at times I fell it is about deperation. Part of the junta who actually goes to these kinds are the ones who have given up on good things and believe they can never happen. I only feel sorry for them.
It is indeed sad for people who have given up hope.
The babas who con these people are so much to blame. I wonder why they are not arrested despite looting people so blatantly. Their posters are so proudly put up in each and every compartment of the train
Totally agree with you! Unfortunately, most people who fall for this stuff are the ones who are not so literate. They believe the easy way out of problems is jadoo-tona! There are such numerous number of people around India who make money on this pretext, it’s not even funny!
I agree, it might be the case that a majority of the people falling for this may be from the lower sections of the society and not literate, but they are still capable of thinking on their own. It is really not an excuse
.. And the people who make money out of these scams.. well I really wonder how they still roam free despite the obvious scamming and the ease of knowing where to find them.
One of your best posts! Really it is outrageous how they fool people into believing them. There are all kinds of babas around us, involved in all sorts of illegal, nefarious activities. One baba claimed that he was God’s incarnation (can you beat this joke). Then some months back, one baba in Delhi actually ran a prostitution ring under the garb of preaching and all that! Can you believe this? Totally unthinkable! These people are worst than criminals. They insidiously harm our society. But the sad thing is they have political support and get around the laws of the country. God save people from such parasites!
Thanku Ajay.
Totally unthinkable and unforgivable. Such a sorry state! The right place for them is jail, they cannot just keep cheating poor people even though, the people who visit them kind of “kulhadi pe pair khud hi maarte hai”.
People are getting madder by the hour!
Agree.
Thanks for dropping by keerthana.
Hahhaa awesome!! About time someone wrote about it!
IN addition to this, when you are seated in a northbound train, the general physician of the entire Delhi, NCR, UP and Bihar region is someone named Rahman Hakimi whose name you see etched on the walls besides the railway tracks. Claims to cure Swapnadosh as well!
Towards the north-eastern side of India we have the famous sexologist Dr. Bangali. Such is his fame that beside the walls, his name is inscribed in rocks in the mountainous regions too!!
Thanks for visiting Sourabh
Rehman hakim – lol.. I have seen boards of bone setters. I think you are referring to the same.
Yes, Dr. Bengali is quite famous.. I think there are more than one with the same surname whose posters are all over.
So sad this is
This is why Nityanand kind of people manage to fool so many people
I had never paid any attention to these kind of posters… these people should be reported and investigated.
kis kis ko kahoge , puri duniya pagal hui hai inke piche,,,,,,,,,,
